Dining room renovation in Ottawa featuring a custom teal bar with quartz countertops.

This military family was ready to put down roots and personalize their beautiful suburban home by adding custom cabinetry to the dining and family rooms and introducing more character throughout. We began by establishing how each space would be used and the overall feeling they wanted to achieve, ultimately blending transitional and traditional styles to suit both homeowners.

In the foyer, we made a strong first impression with floor-to-ceiling applied moulding, a new chandelier, and a thoughtfully styled console with accessories that make everyone feel welcome the moment they walk in.

The dining room was reconfigured to create space for a bar and sitting area, with the dining table moved to the front of the room and a new chandelier installed above their existing table, while custom built-ins painted in a rich deep teal added drama and functional storage. Two cognac-coloured leather swivel chairs complete the space, creating an inviting spot for an after-dinner drink, and in the family room, a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall entertainment unit with updated audio-visual equipment and a new turntable provides ample closed storage for their record collection alongside open shelving for family photos and treasured memorabilia.

“We were very pleased with Natalie’s focus on quality and service, not just with the design but also with the many aspects of the project management. She expertly translated the style elements of our family and realized a beautiful space that finally feels like home. We absolutely love it!”
