The client, moving into a rental with no furniture, needed a cozy and functional home to share with his son, but the tricky layout, including French doors leading into a bedroom, made creating a practical floor plan a challenge. The goal was to design a space where they could relax, watch TV, entertain small groups, and still have room for work when needed, while ensuring the bedrooms were both practical and comfortable with smart storage, space for desks, and low-maintenance bedding.

To address the layout, we covered the unnecessary French doors with removable walnut panels, creating a perfect backdrop for art and the sofa. A clean-lined velvet sofa sits on a thick wool area rug, complemented by a soft tan leather ottoman for lounging. Furniture with double-duty storage was key, including bed frames and nightstands with drawers, while natural linen bedding added a relaxed, lived-in feel. Pops of rich blue in throw cushions and artwork bring life to the neutral scheme, and a desk in the window area provides a dedicated study space. The result is a cozy, functional home that perfectly meets the needs of both client and son.
