Custom kitchen design for an Ottawa family home featuring skinny shaker cabinets and a brown backsplash.

Project Radiance

Location: Manotick, ON
Photographer: Sonia V Photography

For this Manotick renovation, our clients loved their beautiful home but wanted thoughtful updates in a few key areas. The kitchen felt dated and lacked the functionality they desired, the open laundry room offered little storage and needed a door for sound control, and the adjacent family room required a cohesive refresh despite recent updates to the fireplace and a striking piece of artwork. Their modern design aesthetic presented the challenge of blending contemporary style with the timeless charm of their colonial home.

We began with the kitchen, choosing a slim shaker door profile to bridge the modern and traditional, pairing warm white perimeter cabinets with a rich brown island topped with a waterfall quartz countertop that serves as a striking focal point. In the laundry room, we added a pocket door, increased storage, and included a sink that quickly became a client favourite, while the hallway received shiplap lacquered in the same rich brown as the island for continuity. The family room was updated with two custom sofas, a cosy textured area rug, and an oversized chair designed to sit perfectly behind the coffee station, creating a welcoming space to read, watch TV, or chat with friends.

“Natalie and team were a pleasure to work with through the entire process from consolation, design, planning and execution. She took time to listen and understand what was important to us, simplified the decision-making process and designed new beautiful and functional spaces for our kitchen, family room, laundry room and mud room. The project was well planned, managed and executed. We are delighted with the end result and would highly recommend Natalie and the CPI Interiors team.”
