These clients were returning to Ottawa and needed to renovate their home before settling in, as the existing layout simply wasn’t working for their lifestyle. The kitchen was tucked at the back of the house, making it less than ideal for entertaining, and the dining room was poorly located, so their goal was to move the kitchen to the centre of the home and convert the former kitchen into a living room. We were also tasked with updating the main floor bathroom, the principal bedroom closet, and the upstairs bathroom.

Although the house was modest in size, we completely reimagined the main floor by relocating the dining room to the front of the house, moving the kitchen to the centre to become the true heart of the home, and removing select walls to allow for a substantial island that supports both everyday living and entertaining. The back window was reworked into two smaller windows to accommodate a range and custom hood fan while increasing much-needed storage, and the warm brown oak floors were preserved and extended throughout the redesigned spaces for a seamless flow.

The main floor bathroom was given a standout look with vintage-inspired floor tile and bold graphic wallpaper, while the second-floor bathroom, shared by the kids, was thoughtfully designed to maximize every inch for style and function, resulting in a bright, fresh, and highly functional home that truly suits their needs.
